Luke Messer Announces Six More Endorsements

The list of former Republican Party Chairmen include; Jim Kittle, Al Hubbard, Murray Clark, Gordon Durnil, Tim Berry and Bruce Melchert.
Indianapolis, IN – Today, six former Republican State Party Chairmen publicly announced their support for Luke Messer for U.S. Senate. The list includes Jim Kittle, Al Hubbard, Murray Clark, Gordon Durnil, Tim Berry and Bruce Melchert. The endorsements come just weeks after the Messer campaign kickoff in Morristown where more than 800 supporters across Indiana attended a family-style BBQ event to help launch the campaign.
The endorsements of these party activists follow the announcement of the Messer campaign’s leadership team chaired by Jim Kittle, Greg Pence and Jennifer Hallowell. Along with the co-chairs, the new finance chair was announced as Doug Rose who has been involved in several successful state and national campaigns.
Murray Clark, former State Chairman and former Campaign Chairman for Gov. Mitch Daniels said , “Luke Messer is the best candidate to defeat Senator Joe Donnelly and put Indiana’s U.S. Senate seat in trusted Hoosier Republican hands. With Luke’s proven track record as a conservative leader, he’ll be able to get things done to advance the Trump-Pence agenda.”
Messer stated, “It is an honor to be endorsed by this group of exceptional leaders. Their vision and leadership has led to the election of hundreds of Republicans who have made Indiana the envy of the Country.”
The Messer for U.S. Senate campaign continues to grow with tremendous support across the state. Today’s announcement proves the momentum is with Luke Messer and the campaign is building a team to win back the Senate seat held by Democrat Joe Donnelly.
Luke Messer said , “Joe Donnelly has been a loyal foot soldier in the U.S. Senate’s obstruction of the President’s agenda. I will advance a Trump agenda in the Senate by pushing to repeal and replace Obamacare, secure our border, end burdensome regulations, and cut taxes.”

**Background on the former Indiana Republican Party Chairmen
As Indiana Republican Party chairman, Jim Kittle helped lead the resurgence of the Indiana Republican Party. Under Jim’s leadership, Indiana took back the Governor’s office by electing Governor Mitch Daniels. Jim served as chairman from 2002 until 2006.
Tim Berry is the former State Treasurer serving from 1999 to 2007. He also served as Indiana’s State Auditor from 2007 to 2013. Governor Mike Pence recommended Tim for chairman of the Indiana Republican Party where he served from 2013 until 2015.
Murray Clark was campaign chairman of Mitch Daniels’ successful bid for Governor in 2004 and served as chairman of the Indiana Republican Party from 2006 to 2010. He also served in the Indiana State Senate for 11 years.
In 1979, Bruce Melchert was elected chairman of the Indiana Republican Party, working with both Governors Otis Bowen and Robert Orr. Bruce previously served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Bill Hudnut and Deputy Mayor under Hudnut during his tenure as Mayor of Indianapolis.
Al Hubbard served as the volunteer chairman of the Indiana State Republican Party from 1993 to 1994. He went on to serve as Assistant to President George W. Bush for Economic Policy and Director of the National Economic Council at from 2005 to 2007.
Gordon Durnil is a former Deputy Attorney General and Judge who served as Indiana Republican State Chairman for 8 years. Gordon also served on the Executive Committee of the Republican National Committee during the Reagan administration.
