Messer: “The U.S. Senate is Broken”

WASHINGTON — Congressman Luke Messer issued the following statement today after the Senate announced it would not hold a vote this week on the Graham-Cassidy proposal to repeal Obamacare.

“The U.S. Senate is broken. This latest failure to repeal Obamacare is one more nail in the coffin,” Messer said. “For seven years, Hoosiers have told Washington they want Obamacare repealed because it is crushing middle-class families. It is not OK to shrug and walk away now, while countless Hoosiers continue to struggle. I urge members of the Senate to keep working and keep their promise to the American people.”

“Unfortunately, the President’s agenda continues to be blocked by a handful of votes in the Senate, and Joe Donnelly is one of those votes,” Messer said.

Joe Donnelly has voted at least 17 times AGAINST providing Hoosiers relief from Obamacare. He recently announced his opposition to the Graham-Cassidy proposal.

“Joe has made it very clear. He’s not working for Hoosiers, he’s not helping the President and he needs to go,” Messer Campaign Director Chasen Bullock said.
